Climate

Being situated in the eastern basin of the Mediterranean, the climate of the island is of an extreme Mediterranean type with hot summers and relatively cool, short winters. However the Turkish mainland is only 30 miles away and extremely mountainous so when those mountains are snow-capped and the wind is in our direction it can be very cold for a while, and boy when it rains you know all about it!

Riding Ability & Fitness

Our horses are well schooled and forward going and only suitable for competent riders, albeit the rides are mostly conducted in walk it is still necessary for you to be able to control a horse at all paces.

You must have the ability to mount & dismount unaided and be fit enough to lead your horse on steep mountain tracks should the need arise.

Fitness

You will need to be reasonable fit to participate on the trail rides. In addition to being riding fit you may be required to dismount & lead your horse if the going is too steep.

Recommended items to bring

Riding hat (hard hat recommended), comfortable riding trousers, riding boots (suitable for walking if needed), warm clothing for the winter, gloves, full or half chaps, sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen for the summers.

Non-riders

Are very welcome to join the holiday staying at `The Fez`. There are plenty of other activities to keep you amused whilst your partner rides.

Other activities

Northern Cyprus has a huge amount to offer from the flora and fauna in the spring to historical sites coupled with other sporting and leisure activities. We can pre book car hire and offer guided tours to non-riders.
